The Civil Medical Union is receiving a major faction update, one that has been in the works for quite a while, and involves both roleplay systems, as well as gameplay ones. Let’s get right to it!
A change of mindset
We all know that in the annals of history in the Half-Life 2 Roleplay scene, the CMU faction is typically one of the least played or active groups within a server. Despite our initial efforts, this was also the case here, in Lancer.
With the recent departure of the previous faction lead, we have decided to experiment with a different approach in regards to the medical faction and how it functions in-game. Introducing: Amaria Healthcare.
Amaria Industries
“What is Amaria Healthcare”, you may be wondering. Amaria Healthcare is a corporation that we birthed to act as a subsidiary of Amaria Industries.
Amaria Industries was an organization existing across the City 8 storyline of Taco N’ Banana. From the sparse bit of information found 11 years later, Amaria Industries was an organization working for the Combine, as well as in cooperation with the Civil Workers’ Union.
This piece of lore was in our radar for a while, but we were not sure how we wanted to introduce it. With the need for a new CMU lead and a restructuring of the faction, we found this a perfect opportunity to finally introduce this faction.
Changes
Aside from the name change from Civil Medical Union to Amaria Healthcare, the faction will experience several changes in various areas. All of these will be detailed in the new faction guide once it is posted on the forums, but here is a general rundown of most of them:
- The faction will now have a list of qualifications that enable its members to undertake different tasks within the organization.
- The structural hierarchy of the faction will be simplified and become more approachable, without bloat on the ranks.
- A larger focus will be placed on CWU-Assisted Clinical Workshifts as well as the R&D Department of the faction.
- Healthcare will now be paid, the price depending on the patient’s Citizenship level. Amaria is a for-profit organization.
- A new department will be introduced, the Trauma Response Department – a mobile EMT task force for Amaria’s most valued clients.
- And many more…
Conclusion
This update has been in the works for a while now, and we are very excited to finally release it and try to revive this faction. While our aim is not to innovate for the sake of innovating, sometimes it is necessary in order to address ongoing issues.
